i PUT A NEW FAN MOTOR IN MY TRANE XR12 HEAT PUMP. I HAVE IT READY TO INSTALL BUT DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE WIRES CONNECT BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN LEFT THEM DIS CONNECTED. THE WIRES ARE BROWN, BLACK AND PURPLE. I HAVE PICTURES AVAILABLE
Do you have the unit opened up and have access to everything. The brown and purple connect to the capacitor. Do you see the capacitor
If you need help finding the capacitor I can give a possible descripton of what it should look like. Let me knowIf you can find the capacitor the see if you can find any indicators on the capacitor for the terminal letters they should be F—-C—-H The brown will attach to the F terminal the C terminal has two red wires at one side and the purple attaches to the other side, The black is attached a group of other black wires that go back to the power supply. If that helps please hit the “Accept” so that I may be paid. If you need further assitance please let me know how I can help you. Thanks !!
Let me know if you can’t find that capacitor. Keep in mind these wire could all be bunched into a single plug that allows the fan to be just unplugged and a new one plugged in. It can vary a little. Good Luck !!
Were you able to find any of the connections
Hello, Your answer looks like the detail i need. I need to get back to the house to make sure. The motor I ordered came witha capacitor and it does not have any terminal markings on it. Does it matter on a capicitor which side the wires are hooked to? Also the motor I took out is a 1/6th hp and the one I am putting back in is a 1/4hp. Take a look at the attached pictures. The black wire is the only one that was still connected and it went on the black box on the ac2 picture just below the round orange resistor looking thing. On the AC1 picture there are three things that look like a capacitor to me. Do you know which one?

Your right they all look like capacitors in the photos. The black one looks less like one than the other two. It is difficult to tell with these pictures. It shouldn’t matter typically with a capacitor on the connections, but that can depend. Take a look when you get home and let me know. I may be able to walk you through the wire connections to the different items to map out where the wires go.
